Battling Storms and Building Bonds: Keswick Trail Camp!

Our first trail camp of 2025 was nothing short of unforgettable! Held in January amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District, we gathered at Highside Farm in Bassenthwaite for a weekend that tested our resilience—and rewarded us with unforgettable memories.

Despite battling through stormy conditions, every participant stuck it out with incredible determination. Being able to stay together onsite made all the difference—100% of attendees fed back that they loved the communal experience and would want this setup again for future camps. There’s something special about being able to relax together after a day on the trails, whether that’s sharing a hot drink, swapping stories, or just soaking in the stunning views.

A Weekend Full of Challenges and Growth

One of the highlights of the camp was sneaking in some team assessments—a feature that proved hugely popular, with 100% of attendees saying they enjoyed the opportunity and would love to see it return. It’s always inspiring to witness the growth and skill of each handler-dog team in real-time.

We also introduced some exciting new elements, like tackling a 24-hour aged trail—our most scenic yet. And, against all odds, we didn’t encounter a single off-lead dog along the way! This allowed everyone to focus fully on their training and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the trails.

What Our Participants Had to Say

The feedback from this camp has been heart-warming and encouraging:

“Enjoyed the small group, as it added a more personal touch to the weekend and we could really ask a lot of questions.”

“This was a really nice camp and could possibly have been one of my favourites! It was very nice to have time to relax but also have things to do! I really enjoyed having the task in the evening to plan trails and being able to practise different things like multi-directional starts. Thank you for organising this camp, the views also topped it off!”

“Really enjoyed our first camp and massively appreciate all the time and effort it must have taken to prepare it and all the attention to detail like the lanyards. Really liked the fact everyone was staying at the same place so could ‘pop back for a brew’ between activities. Liked the fact it was a smaller group, although I haven’t done one with a bigger group yet for comparison.”
