The Canine School of Trailing Instructor Course

Important Information and Terms and Conditions (T&Cs)

Our Code of Conduct sets out the professional conduct and training practices to which all The Canine School of Trailing Affiliated Instructors and Student Instructors agree to abide. 

 

By signing up to this course you agree to abide by our Code of Conduct and understand that failure to do so, could result in you being asked to leave the course with no reimbursement of fees:

  • To act with integrity, in a professional courteous manner.
  • To not unfairly elicit trade or clientele to the detriment of others within The Canine School of Trailing.
  • To be able to work in the best interest of the individual trail team.
  • To promote and use suitable and motivational methods consistent with principles of kindness, fairness and good welfare.
  • Not to use or promote any aversive training methods or techniques.
  • Not to use electric shock collars, similarly coercive electric equipment, pinch, prong or choke collars.
  • To take every reasonable care to control activities which may cause injury or aggression to or by dogs.
  • To have an understanding of dog behaviour and the mechanisms of learning.
  • To have an understanding of the human skills of learning and communication.
  • To teach to the level of their experience and recognise their limitations and consequences of advice given, directing to higher level TCSOT instructors or other accredited individuals as required.
  • To be willing to keep up to date with relevant developments, to improve their own skills and to expand their knowledge.

 

Distance Learning Instructor Course 

  • Once access to the course content has been granted there will be strictly no refunds undertaken.
  • Student Instructors have twelve months to complete the course following which all access will be removed. Students can ask for a further twelve month access at an additional cost.

 

In Person Instructor Course

  • There will be no refunds following sign up to the In Person Instructor Course.
  • In the event of a course having to be completely rescheduled, the same Terms and Conditions will apply. A refund will be given should a student be unable to attend a rescheduled course. 

 

General

  • All students enrolled on the Trailing Instructor Course automatically become subject to The Canine School of Trailing’s Code of Conduct. 
  • We reserve the right to amend or update any part of the distance learning or in person, course content and structure at any stage. 
  • Mentors/assessors may vary or change throughout the course. 
  • The student understands and agrees to comply with The Canine School of Trailing’s confidentiality and non-disclosure policy – that no course material, nor part of the course material will be shared with a third party. 
  • Access to the course will remain once the student has passed the course as long as the individual remains an affiliated instructor.
  • The Canine School of Trailing will not be held responsible for dogs being kept in vehicles in car parks, or harm incurred to any dog(s), as a result of being left unattended in vehicles at any of our sessions. 

 

We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will take immediate effect and it is the responsibility of our affiliate and student instructors to read these when issued.
